I am officially old.  It's not just the multipying grey hairs now (there ar so many that I can't pass them off as hi-lights, anymore). Last night while I was at a bar--one that had a t.v. with the sound off--I caught an old rerun of the original Star Trek. Within moments of the opening credits, I pegged the episode.  I turned to my much younger friends and said, 'Look--'Trouble with Tribbles'!!  I can't describe the look off bafflement on thier faces--they had NO clue what I was talking about.

Some could argue that Star Trek knowledge is more a symptom of geekdom than old age.

And the Trouble with Tribbles was an awesome episode.  Had it been filmed in the 1990s, there would have been a massive marketing effort to sell those little hairballs.  "Get the new Tribble happy meal, only at McDonalds!"

A woman who knows Star Trek ... that's kinda hot. :> I was never into the original series, but I followed TNG like a total dork (any of you who know me aren't at all surprised). But I think you're right rpine, some of that knowledge is a sign of geekdom, since I wasn't into the series, yet I know what a Tribble is.
